In Algebra 2 text, power through lesson 9-4 on common logs and then navigate your way through problems 1 - 13 on page 531.
As always, if the text explanation of common logs isn't sufficient (and it probably won't be) take it upon yourself to pay Khan Academy or some other web resource a visit. Or if push comes to shove, check out another textbook! Libraries are stocked with Algebra for Idiots or Dummies or other titles that have pretty awesome descriptions of logarithms and their behaviors.
